DESCRIPTION
The Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse was first launched in 1968 by Patek Philippe, making it one of the oldest models in the brand’s modern catalog — second only to the Calatrava in continuous production.
Its design is based on the “golden ratio” (≈1:1.618) — a mathematical proportion admired since ancient Greek times for its sense of harmony and aesthetic balance. This ratio directly influenced the watch’s elliptical case shape, which sits visually between a circle and a rectangle.
The present example, reference 4225, is crafted in 18k white gold and features a striking blue dial housed in a 29 mm x 25 mm case. A reference that is hard to come by, it is especially rare to find examples in white gold.
